CAAC To Loosen Limits On Opening Regional Chinese Airlines

To encourage the development of the domestic aircraft manufacturing industry, the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China plans to loosen the limits on setting up regional air companies.

Li Jiaxiang, deputy director of CAAC, said that conditions for examination and approval of setting up regional airlines are strict and CAAC is considering loosening the limits for companies which intend to purchase aircraft made in China.

Li also said that one of goals for this year is to increase the flight punctuality of domestic airlines by three percentage points, from the current figure of 80% to about 83%.

In addition, the plan for building the second airport in Beijing has been submitted to the relevant official departments and detailed assessment and the start-up phase of the project has commenced.
