Aviation negotiations between China and South Korea start this May and Korean Air wishes to obtain approval for opening routes to western China after negotiation.

Currently, Korean Air has 25 passenger routes to 21 cities in China and this is expected to reach a total of 30 by 2010. As for flight destination, the company is aiming at the markets in China's western region. In addition, Korean Air will increase the number of flights from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Gimp from the current one a week to two after the expansion of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is completed in 2010.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai Office of Korean Air said that Korean Air will sign a cooperation agreement of sales with a large Chinese domestic airline recently to take advantage of each other's flight networks to gain more market share. In China, Korean Air has code sharing with China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines. The company wishes to provide more flight options for passengers flying between China and South Korea through cooperation with Chinese airlines.
