The Civil Aviation Administration Of China, together with the Ministry Of Finance, have given RMB55 million to the earthquake areas as contingency funds for earthquake relief.

The funds are to be used for purchasing necessary production facilities and equipment as well as other materials for earthquake relief and disaster rescue.

After the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, staff of the civil aviation industry immediately took action to provide assistance for people in the disaster areas. As at May 14, donations from the entire civil aviation industry including individuals and enterprises had exceeded RMB50 million.

In addition, CAAC has urgently assembled and assigned thirty helicopters to participate in the earthquake relief work.
