Air Berlin will be reducing their weekly flights from Shanghai to Dusseldorf from five to three flights per week, effective July 2008.

Flights from Shanghai Pudong International Airport will now operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Dusseldorf. The return flights will depart from Dusseldorf every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, arriving Shanghai the following day.

Joachim Hunold, Air Berlin's CEO cited lower than anticipated customer demand on the Shanghai route, as well as raising fuel cost associated with the operation of the flight as reasons prompting the decision.

The airline's five weekly flights from Beijing to Dusseldorf enjoy a strong demand from passengers, also attributed to the upcoming Olympic Games, and will not be affected by the schedule adjustments at Shanghai.
