In response to a proposal from Beijing Consumers' Association, 71 hotels and inns in Miyun, Beijing agreed to extend their checkout deadlines to 14:00.

The Beijing Consumers' Association said that the rule that guests must checkout by 12:00 at noon violate the fair principles of market trade. Hotels usually charge a 24-hour fee, even though most guests don't stay that long. For this reason, Beijing Consumers' Association proposed that the hotel industry in Beijing delay checkout deadlines from 12:00 to 14:00 during the 2008 Olympic Games to provide more convenience and more satisfactory service for customers.

The proposal also jointly released by the Miyun Consumers' Association and the Miyun Tourists and Hotels Association immediately gained support from 71 hotels and inns including Ruihaimu Tianyuan Hotel and Beijing Shihao International Hotel. The hotels all agreed to extend their checkout deadlines to 14:00.
