After approval by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the China National Tourism Administration, Japanese travel agency group JTB Corporation has formally settled in Guangzhou with its wholly-owned subsidiary JTB (Guangzhou) International Tours Company Limited being opened in Guangzhou.

This new travel agency is the second wholly owned branch established by JTB Corporation in Chinese mainland following the opening of its first subsidiary in Shanghai.

The Guangzhou Tourism Bureau said that according to Regulations on the Management of Travel Agencies issued by the State Council, the business scope of JTB (Guangzhou) International Tours Company Limited only included inbound and domestic tours but still it had no permission for outbound tour business.

JTB Corporation was established in Japan in 1912 with its head office in Tokyo. In Japan the company has 323 branches in major cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Sapporo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Naha. According to local media, in 2007, JTB Corporation organized a total of 400,000 Japanese tourists traveling to China, ranking it in first place among the travel agencies in Japan.
