According to the Suzhou Municipal Tourism Department, about 15 new star-grade hotels will open in the city this year — aiming at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.
It is forecast that in 2010, among of the 70 million visitors participating in the 2010 World Expo, 46 million will visit Suzhou. Meanwhile, some high-end hotels in Suzhou have also begun to make preparations for the event. A number of four-star hotels are being renovated and their facilities and services upgraded. For example, the Garden Hotel Suzhou has earned five-star status after renovation.
Currently, Suzhou tourism departments have recommended 149 star-grade hotels to the Shanghai organizers to offer services for the 2010 World Expo.
