The Shandong Provincial Tourism Bureau has signed long-term strategic cooperation agreements in Shanghai with Shanghai Spring International Travel Service and Ctrip.com.

The agreements are to promote the sustainable and stable development of the Shandong tourism sector during the current global financial crisis, by new marketing initiatives and cooperation between the government and private enterprises.

Spring Travel operations around China will carry out a series of marketing promotions for Shandong tours, with the aim of attracting a total of 100,000 tourists to Shandong in 2009. The promotion will target the Taiwan market. Spring Travel will cooperate with Shandong Provincial Tourism Bureau to build Shandong into a popular Yangtze River Delta destination for Taiwanese tourists.

According to the agreement signed with Shandong, Ctrip will focus on the promotion of Shandong's tourism resources on its website — especially promoting six major tour cities in the province: Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai, Jinan, Taian, and Qufu. In addition, Ctrip and the Shandong Provincial Tourism Bureau will jointly develop a series of vacation tour products, such as seaside holidays, golf tours, hot spring breaks, and wine village tours. Golf tours is the theme of 2008, while the hot spring and wine village tours are for 2009. The two parties also plan to launch different categories of tour products targeting various categories of tourists, including youth, corporate, and international tourists, as well as attracting overseas Chinese.
