Public opinion is being sought on the "Management Approach For Travel Agency Liability Insurance" that has been drafted by the Chinese National Tourism Administration and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.

The insurance liability of the travel agency should include liability for personal injury to tourists and property damage during tourism activities organized by the travel agency and the liability for the personal injury of people who are assigned by travel agency to serve the tourists.

The liability limit of a travel agency can be determined in consultation with insurance company in accordance with the business scope, the scale of operation and the risk management ability of the travel agency, the level of local economic and social development and the travel agency's own needs. The minimum limit for personal injury is CNY200,000 for each person.

Premium rates of liability insurance should follow the principles of market and match with the operational risks of travel agencies. The insurance period is one year and travel agencies should renew the insurance before time is out.

Any comments or suggestions should be submitted before May 22, 2009. The approach will come into effect on October 1, 2009.
