Online travel service provider Ctrip.com has introduced a nationwide emergency assistance network.

Ctrip members can get immediate aid during their trip in China by dialing the Ctrip hotline when sudden serious illness or accidents have occurred and they can not continue their trip. The new service is now available in more than 50 Chinese cities. Ctrip headquarters in Shanghai, its 11 subsidiaries, over 40 sales outlets at airports, and ten experience centers all have special people to handle these emergencies.

The emergency assistance network mainly offers assistance for emergencies concerning the airport and during the trip. Ctrip staff at airports will provide help to Ctrip members who have lost their luggage or identity documents, or have missed the flights. If Ctrip members have been struck by sudden serious illness, Ctrip.com will coordinate with hotels to send members to hospitals; once there are accidents and the trip has to be halted, Ctrip will also provide necessary guidance and assistance.

To date, Ctrip.com has implemented several funds to protect its customers' interests, such as the Major Natural Disasters Tourist Experience Security Fund and the Compensation Fund.
