Shangri-La Appoints Bierbaumer GM In Guilin

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, has appointed Sigi Bierbaumer as general manager of its new five-star Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin, which is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2010.
Bierbaumer, an Austrian national, has 29 years of hospitality experience, working in various positions within the hotel industry, including executive chef, director of food and beverage, resident manager and general manager. He has been with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts for 17 years, and this is his second China appointment, having previously worked as a resident manager at Shangri-La's Kerry Centre Hotel in Beijing. Prior to joining Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin, Bierbaumer was general manager of Traders Hotel, Yangon, a post he had held since August 2007.
