Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts recently celebrated the grand opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Wenzhou, which is one of three Shangri-La properties in China’s southern Zhejiang province.

Located on the southeast coast of China, between the two economic zones of the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas, Wenzhou is the economic, cultural and communications centre of the province. It has been a principal trading port in China since the Tang Dynasty and is also well known for the production of small commodities and crafts including boxwood carving and embroidery. The area surrounding Wenzhou is renowned for its natural beauty including the landscapes of the Yadang Mountain and Nanxi River.

Located in the center of the new development area of Wenzhou, the hotel is next to the Wenzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre, approximately three kilometers from government offices, and a 25-minute drive from Wenzhou Yongqiang Airport.

The hotel boasts 409 guestrooms and suites offering panoramic river and mountain views with amenities including: complimentary broadband Internet access; a 37-inch high-definition television with satellite and cable programs; an executive writing desk with international multi-plug sockets; and a spacious marble bathroom. Guestrooms start at 42 square meters, while the presidential suite covers 252 square meters. In addition, the property has 10 serviced apartments with fully-equipped kitchens catering for the needs of long-stay guests.

The Horizon Club, occupying floors 21 to 25, of the hotel offers special privileges and amenities including: express check-in and check-out; complimentary daily breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails in the Horizon Club Lounge; and complimentary use of a meeting room for two hours.

The hotel’s restaurants and lounges include O Café serving international cuisine from live theater kitchens; Shang Palace serving the Zhejiang province’s Ou cuisine and Cantonese specialities in a main dining room and 17 private dining rooms; and the lobby lounge. Facilities at the hotel also include a fully-equipped fitness center, sauna, floodlit outdoor tennis court, and a heated indoor swimming pool.

For events, Shangri-La Hotel, Wenzhou, features a 1,700-square-meter pillarless grand ballroom with a ceiling height of nine meters, capable of accommodating up to 2,000 guests for cocktail receptions or 1,200 for dinner banquets. The meeting and banquet facilities at the hotel also include 11 function rooms and a junior ballroom.
