China's domestic airlines in Shenzhen, Sichuan, Shandong, and Shanghai have traditionally used 3-digit codes to number their flights, or occasionally using different letter combinations preceding the same number (which can often lead to confusion).

In order to solve the problem, starting October 31, all the flights with 3-digit codes will add one more digit.
