After a delayed licensing process, the first private civil aviation airlines company, OK Air, launched its first flight on March 11. The flight was from Tianjin to Changsha, with a transfer to Kunming.

The CEO of OK Air, Mr. Sui, was working as the captain of this flight. The other 26 pilots for the airline are all employed from abroad, including countries like Canada and Sweden. Though the airline's hub is in Tianjin, the headquarters of OK Air is located in Beijing, and the the registed capital of the company is RMB300 million.

At present, the airlines has 6 airline routes: Tianjin-Changsha-Kunming, Tianjin-Guilin, Tianjin-Taiyuan, Tianjin-Zhangjiajie, Tianjin-Yanji, and Tianjin-Hohhot.

During the initial period of operation, all the tickets are sold with 60-80% discount to attract more passengers. For example, the flight Tianjin-Changsha-Kunmin costs only RMB 650. And this low price will last by the end of March.
It is also learned that an online ticket booking system will soon be set up.
