According to the China National Tourism Bureau, Chinese citizens will have three new travel destinations this year.
Starting April 1, 2005, Chinese citizens can go to the Northern Mariana Islands of the U.S. The Northern Mariana Islands consists of 16 islands and became a part of the U.S. in 1990. Now there are several weekly flights between China and Saipan (one of the islands at The Northern Mariana Islands).
From May 1, Chinese citizens can also go to Fiji and Vanuatu. At present, there are no direct airlines from China to these two countries. Tourists who want to go to either of these countries have to transfer via New Zealand or Australia.
