ANA and Shanghai Airlines have applied to the Japanese government for permission to extend their existing code-share arrangement to new international and domestic routes from June 15 this year.
The scope of the application covers Shanghai Airlines operated domestic flights to the cities of Chengdu and Chongqing from Shanghai, and also to ANA operated international flights from Nagoya (Centrair) to Shanghai (Pudong).
ANA and Shanghai Airlines have been code-sharing on international flights between Tokyo (Narita)/ Osaka (Kansai) and Shanghai (Pudong) since September 1 last year. At the same time, they also commenced code-sharing operations on domestic flights between Osaka (Kansai) and Tokyo (Haneda), and between Shanghai (Pudong) and Shenzhen.
Both airlines also tied-up their Frequent Flyer Programmes from September 1, 2004, giving reciprocal mileage redemption and accrual benefits to ANA Mileage Club (AMC) and Shanghai Airlines Frequent Flyer Program members. These benefits apply to all code-share flights as well, including those planned in this latest expansion, which will total 60 weekly flights in all when the expansion is complete.
