From August 1, all domestic airfare will include an extra fuel fee to help defray costs of rising oil prices.

The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) has worked out a rule that requires an extra RMB40 fuel fee for routes over 800km and a RMB20 fee for those below 800km.

This rule does not apply to the tickets issued before August 1.

The extra fuel fee will be included in the airfare with a code YO marked on the ticket.
