Hainan Province has started its four-month campaign in cracking down on illegal travel buses.

Starting September 14, the transportation departments in Hainan Province have started to conduct a thorough check of all travel buses. Officials will use an electronic device to scan the sign on the buses to check whether they are legal.

Illegal bus owners will be fined RMB30000 to 100000 based on the size of their vehicle.

Meanwhile, the transportation department encourages citizens to report any illegal buses that they have identified. The department will reward those citizens RMB500-1000 per bus.
