Under great pressure from its domestic counterparts, China's budget airline company Spring Airlines has decided to collect a fuel surcharge starting December 1.
The company will follow the standard set by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
China's other domestic airlines expressed their dissatisfaction with Spring Airlines' low- price policy at a symposium held in Mid-November, believing that Spring Airlines' behavior has disrupted the market order.
Li Dan, a spokesperson from Spring Airlines, says that his company has been facing heavy competition from China's other airline companies since it commenced its low price offer. As a result, its chartered plane service has dropped by as much as 50%-60% compared with the same period of last year.
