Abacus International announced the opening of its fourth China office in Shenzhen, and reiterated that China is the key driver for the region's travel growth over the next decade.

Asia's leading travel facilitator, Abacus International, will be expanding further into China with its Shenzhen office opening today. Patrick Lai, Vice President of North Asia at Abacus International, said that the expansion underlined Abacus' commitment to the China travel industry and would enable the company to help its travel agency partners, travel suppliers and customers understand and adapt to the fast developing travel environment.

China has been identified as the driving engine fueling the region's travel growth and Abacus is looking forward to helping meet the unique needs of China's travel industry and customers to make the most of the opportunities ahead, Mr Lai said. With additional air routes now opening up and the frequencies of carriers constantly on the increase, both the outbound and inbound travel to China has already begun to stimulate and drive this anticipated growth around the region.

Abacus has long recognized the size and growth potential of China's travel industry and its importance to the rest of Asia. That's why, with this fast-growing figure, it is imperative that the China travel industry has the right technology, solutions and infrastructure to manage that growth – which Abacus can provide, Mr Lai said.

According to China Travel Service, by 2020, China is expected to be the world's number one destination with an estimated 100 million tourists visiting each year.

Abacus has been established in China since 1988 and to date, already has offices across three cities in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
