Local media report that more than six million people crossed China's borders during the Spring Festival holiday.

This is a 6% increase from last year.

The information was announced by the Exit and Entry Administration of the Ministry of Public Security on Monday.

The ministry source also said 3,530 people were found illegally crossing China's borders during the Spring Festival.

More than 140,000 cars, ships, planes and trains crossed China's borders during the week, up 4 percent on last year's Spring Festival.
