Wang Changshun from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) says that the construction of the Second International Airport in Beijing will be initiated at the end of the 11th Five-year Plan, but the final site for the construction has not been decided.

Wang said that the current international airport in Beijing will be fully capable to meet the demands during the 2008 Beijing Olympics after its third run and a new 90000-meter waiting area are completed.

Wang says that factors such as the distance to Beijing's downtown, sky conditions and geographical structures will be taken into consideration in choosing the site for the second airport.

Chinese academician Wu Liangyong has suggested in local media that building the second airport in Hebei Province or Tianjin might be a good idea.
