The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), Ministry of Public Security and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council have jointly issued a management rule for mainland citizens' trips to Taiwan.

The rule, which is called Management Measures on Mainlanders' Trips to Taiwan requires that Chinese citizens must visit Taiwan in groups, and must not get involved in any individual activities during their stay in Taiwan.

Chinese citizens need to first register with a travel agency before they get a permit and visa from their local Exit and Entry Department.

Currently, travel agencies in the mainland are waiting for the responses form the Taiwan side before they can organize tour groups to the region.

The mainland also has strict requirements for travel agencies to get the qualification to organize Taiwan trips. A list of the qualified travel agencieswill be published in a few months by the Cross-Strait Tourism Exchange Association.
