China's Ministry of Railways began to adjust its railway network this week.

It has added three express trains to run respectively between Hangzhou and Xi'an, Xi'an and Guangguan East, and Xinyang and Shanghai.

In addition, a new Ningxi Line which runs between Nanjing and Xi'an has formally opened to trains.

The overall adjustment involves a number of railways including the Beijing-Kowloon Line, Huainan Line, Xuanhang Line, Ningwu Line and Huning Line. In particular, the newly opened Ningxi Line crosses five provinces, and is one of the ten major projects listed in China's Tenth Five-Year Plan.

Local media are hailing these changes as they will strengthen contact between the east and west of the country.
