ICTA Chooses Deqing As First Tourist Destination

Tong Lun Wa, president of International Chinese Tourist Association (ICTA) Hong Kong, says his group has chosen Deqing in Guangdong Province as its first destination in the mainland.

A delegation consisting of 130 travel agents, all of whom are members of ICTA, visited the scenic spots in Deqing on

May 12 and 13, and say they were satisfied with the abundant travel resources, unique folk customs, tourism environment and high-quality travel services afforded in the area.

Tong said that after July 1, 2006, when Hong Kong formally adopts the 5-day work rule, there will be more opportunities for cooperation between travel agencies in Hong Kong and the mainland.
