John Rice has been appointed general manager of Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai. An Australian national, Rice brings with him 17 years of international hotel experience, culled from his various postings in Hawaii, USA, China, Fiji and the Philippines.

This is the third posting to China for Rice, who has been with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts for the last 13 years. He comes to Pudong Shangri-La directly from Manila, where he had been General Manager of the 632-room Edsa Shangri-La, since December 2004.

Rice's Shangri-La portfolio also includes Shangri-La's Fijian Resort and Fiji Mocambo Hotel in Fiji; Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort, Singapore; and Shangri-La Hotels in Beijing and Hangzhou.
