InterContinental has made a number of recent executive placements to fill kep slots in its burgeoning business in and around Chengdu.

Douglas Martell is the new Regional General Manager of Century City Chengdu and Jiuzhai Paradise Hotels, which includes InterContinental Jiuzhai Paradise, Holiday Inn Jiuzhai Jarpo, Express by Holiday Inn Jiuzhai Jarpo, InterContinental Century City Chengdu, Holiday Inn Century City Chengdu West and Holiday Inn Century City Chengdu East. Before transferring to China in 2005, Martell was Regional General Manager for Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

Andrew Guo has been appointed Area Director of Sales & Marketing of InterContinental Hotels Group Century City Chengdu and Jiuzhai Paradise Hotels. In this role, Guo will oversee the sales and marketing initiatives for InterContinental Century City Chengdu, Holiday Inn West Century City Chengdu and Holiday Inn East Century City Chengdu; InterContinental Resort Jiuzhai Paradise, Holiday Inn Jiuzhai Jarpo, Express by Holiday Inn Jiuzhai Jarpo. Guo was previously the Senior Marketing Manager of Hotels Openings Greater China.

Holiday Inn Century City Chengdu has appointed Gary Ye as Hotel Manager. Ye has over 17 years experience in the hospitality industry, started his hotel career in Ramada Renaissance Hotel Sydney, Australia, and worked with Hilton, Holiday Inn, Regal, InterContinental, and Ramada. His most recent job was Resident Manager of Holiday Inn Downtown Shanghai, where his strong leadership has driven improved the performance of F&B resulting in an 89% increase in GOP in 2005.

Warren Tam has taken the helm as General Manager of InterContinental Century City Chengdu. In his new role, Tam will be responsible for the opening and operations of InterContinental Century City with 560 rooms and 5 food and beverage outlets. Tam has previously served in Grand Hyatt Taipei as Resident Manager, and he has over 25 years of hospitality experience with Hyatt International and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and New Zealand.

Damian Niesel has been appointed General Manager of InterContinental Resort Jiuzhai Paradise and Jiuzhai Resort Complex, which includes the InterContinental Resort Jiuzhai Paradise, Holiday Inn Jiuzhai Jarpo and the Express by Holiday Inn Jiuzhai Jarpo. Niesel will oversee the re-branding and operations of this 2926 rooms resort complex. The re-branding of the three hotels is planned to take place over a period commencing late 2006 to early 2007. An experienced hotelier, Damian's career background is stretching over the last 20 years from Europe over the Middle East to Asia, where he spent the last 16 years in China.
