After a four-month renovation, Guangzhou Central Hotel has just been re-opened with a new look.
First opened in 1986, Central Hotel was the first 4-star hotel in Guangdong Province, and it was also one of the first batch of Sino-foreign corporations arranged in the province. However in the 1990s it started to have financial difficulties caused by the fierce market competition in Guangzhou.
In July 2004, Hainan Airlines purchased the hotel and brought in a new culture, management concept, brand and capital. Local media report that Hainan Airlines is focused on purchasing more hotels in southern China to complement its growing airline business.
