After its ground breaking in August 2005, Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing is making good progress on its new tower to be opened in January 2007.

The hotel says all the main structural work has been completed and the topping of the new tower was completed at end of June. Then work will be concentrated on the interior of the tower for the next 6 months.

There will be 142 guest rooms, at a minimum of 50 square meters each, of premium accommodation facilities and a choice selection of deluxe specialty suites, including a duplex Presidential Suite.

Seating 1,300 people, the new 1,600 square-meter, pillarless Tower Ballroom, boasts an elegant interior with 8-meter high ceilings and crystal chandeliers. A new exclusive contemporary restaurant-lounge, the Blu Lobster, offers fresh and creative cuisine with chic modern decor and lively jazz entertainment to satisfy diverse taste and lifestyles.
