Trains between Shanghai and Lhasa are likely to be launched during the October holiday this year.

With the launch of this train, travelers in the Yangtze Delta area will be able to go to Tibet by train directly.

Since the Qinghai – Tibet railway was put into operation on July 1, there has been a strong demand among passengers in Yangtze Delta area who want to travel in Tibet by train. Based on this market demand, the Ministry of Railway and Shanghai Railway Bureau have been working on the launch of trains between Shanghai and Lhasa.

The train to be adopted for this line which will also be equipped with advanced oxygen supply facilities, and the train will be cover three railways: the Beijing – Shanghai Railway, Qinhuangdao – Lanzhou Railway, and Qinghai – Lhasa Railway. It will take 52 hours for passengers to complete the entire journey.

The exact date for the launch has not yet been announced.
