The Hainan Provincial Public Security Department has announced that citizens in Haikou will be able travel to Hong Kong and Macau on individual trips without approval, starting from October 18.

According to the new measure, citizens in Haikao can get their qualification for individual Hong Kong and Macau trips automatically when they apply for their "Hong Kong and Macau Passport". And if they need to apply for the individual trip a second time, they only need to bring their passport before they can get the visa within three working days. There is also no need to complete the application forms and submit identification the second time.

Long Zhang, director of the HNPS Entry Management Section says that since May 1, 2006 when the individual Hong Kong and Macao trip was gradually opened in Haikou, they have already accepted application from 15,987 tourists.
