The latest statistics from the Tibet Tourism Bureau show that from January to October this year, Tibet received more than 2 million tourists.

These tourists are both from China and overseas and accounted for RMB2.4 billion in revenue for the Chinese province. In the first 10 months, Tibet received 2.2576 million tourists, an increase of 31.8% over the previous year, and income from the travel sector increased by 28.9% compared with that of the same period of last year.

A representative from the Tibet Tourism Bureau says that the main reason for the large number of tourists this year is because of the launch of Qinghai-Tibet Railway in July, which has made Tibet a hot spot for both domestic and overseas tourists.
