The first ten months of 2006 saw a booming tourism industry in the Macao Special Administration Region.
The prosperity of Macao's tourism in the period was mainly attributed to the increase of the inbound tourism market from Southeast Asia, mainland China and Hong Kong.
Compared with the same period last year, Macao received 2.5 million more inbound tourists from January to October, an increase of 16%. And the tourist numbers from mainland China and Hong Kong, the two major inbound travel market for Macao, increased dramatically.
Of all of Macao's inbound tourist countries, five countries increased the most rapidly. They are Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
