Derek A. Flint has been named general manager of the 253-room Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street.
A veteran in the hospitality industry with over 17 years experience, Flint will be responsible for every aspect of The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street operations, marketing, enhancing employee development, guest satisfaction and brand recognition.
Previously, Flint was hotel manager for two years at the award-winning Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore – the largest Ritz-Carlton hotel in the companies portfolio. During his tenure, the hotel won numerous accolades including "Hotel of the Year" by the Singapore Tourism Board and "Best Hotel in Asia" by Conde Nast Traveler. Prior to his posting in Singapore, Flint was senior corporate director of rooms for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. based in the corporate office, and was responsible for the rooms operations of all hotels worldwide. He also played an integral role in leading the opening team for 22 Ritz-Carlton hotels.
Flint's vast experience in the industry has seen him in senior roles within the rooms division at The Ritz-Carlton hotels in New York and San Francisco as well as The Park Hyatt, San Francisco and The Campton Place Hotel, San Francisco. He started his career in the front office at The Ritz-Carlton New York in 1988 before he moved on to the Four Seasons Clift Hotel in San Francisco.
A British citizen, Flint is also a naturalized American. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
