Air China has added frequencies to the Tibetan Plateau, increasing the Chengdu-Linzhi service to five flights a week.

"Air China's new Chengdu-Linzhi route is attracting tourists who want to experience the Tibetan Plateau. Our additional service offers yet another travel choice to the region and increases convenient access," said Zhang Lan, senior vice president for Air China. "The beauty, culture, and majestic environment of Tibet are drawing visitors from all over the world, and Air China is proud to help share this unique heritage with those who want to come and see it."

This Chengdu-Linzhi service was initiated last September, following the success of its Chengdu-Lhasa service. Air China has provided consistent air service to the Tibetan Plateau for 42 years, also carrying passengers among its regional destinations such as Bangda and Changdu.

Air China's additional services, launched March 25, also use specialized Boeing 757 aircraft with performance enhancements for the terrain and conditions. The Chengdu-Linzhi flights, dubbed “the second golden tour route” for the region, joining the Chengdu-Lhasa service, operate every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. The morning services depart Chengdu at 7:30 a.m., arriving Linzhi at 9:15 a.m., and leave Linzhi at 10:00 a.m. to arrive in Chengdu at 11:30 a.m.

The region of Tibet is the main part of China's Tibetan Plateau, located in the southwest of the country. The imposing Tibetan Plateau is the highest plateau on earth, and the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest, is a feature of Tibet.
