Driven by increasing tourism demands, areas in Western China has accelerated their business development in the tourism sector.

At present, there are 55 five-star and 262 four-star hotels in Western China areas. News from the China Western Region's Tourism Industry Development Meeting held in Guiyang is that from 1999 to 2006, this area has quickly improved its hospitality capacity and service level. Its star-grade hotels increased from 1,663 to 3,459, and travel agencies increased from 1,833 to 3,577. Among them, the number of international travel agencies has grown from 310 to 406.

In addition, there are 88 main tour cities in Western China, and 999 National A Grade Scenic Spots, including 21 National 5A Grade and 193 National 4A Grade spots.
