Langham To Invest RMB10 Billion In Chinese Hotel Market

Langham Hotels International announced that the group will invest RMB10 billion in the Chinese market to develop comprehensive hotel projects over the next five years.

The group will focus on first- and second-tier cities around China as development locations. These include Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Shenyang, Xiamen, and Dalian.

In 2007 Langham Hotels International had already initiated several hotel projects in China. On September 20, 2007 they signed an agreement with Beijing Capital Airport for the first five-star hotel at a domestic airport in China; on October 26, 2007 they signed a management contract with Shanghai Hengshan Group for the launch of its first boutique hotel, The Langham Yangtze Boutique, Shanghai.

Lo Ka-Shui, chairman of Langham Hotels International, said that within five years the group plans to invest a total of RMB10 billion in mainland China to develop ten projects under a model combining hotels, office buildings, and shopping malls.
