CNTA Publishes Statistics On Tourists Involved In Disaster Areas

After investigating domestic and overseas tour groups in the earthquake disaster areas and assembling statistics of tourism organs of each area, the China National Tourism Administration has published the number of tour groups affected by the earthquake — a total of 506 with 10,386 tourists.

Of these, as of May 14, the number of tourists obstructed in the disaster areas was 2,601. CNTA said that in the 506 tour groups affected by the earthquake, there were 1,073 international arrivals and 9,313 domestic tourists.

In addition, there are still a few domestic and overseas tourists that have not yet communicated with the bureau or with the corresponding departments. As a result CNTA has built up special groups for liaison with each area. These are trying to connect with the missing tour groups as quickly as possible.
