China Signs Tourism MOU With Micronesia

In Beijing, the China National Tourism Administration and the Resource and Development Department of the Federated States of Micronesia have signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism development.

This means that the Federated States of Micronesia has been formally opened for China-organized tour groups to travel to the country and the two countries' tourism cooperation has entered a new era of development.

Wang Zhifa, vice director of China National Tourism Administration, suggested that the Federated States of Micronesia strengthen their promotion in China and jointly develop multi-destination tour products with popular surrounding destinations. He also said that China attaches much more importance to the friendly relationship with the Federated States of Micronesia, and hopes to enlarge cooperation in the tourism field by joint efforts, and to broaden mutual communications as well as encouraging the two countries' tourism partnership.

Located in the North Pacific, the Federated States of Micronesia consists of 607 islands of different sizes and has rich tourism resources with tourism listed as one of the country's top three industries.
