MSC Signs With SIPG For New Joint Venture Travel Agency

Mediterranean Shipping Company has signed with Shanghai International Port (Group) Company Limited for setting up a new joint venture travel agency in Shanghai.

In recent years, more global cruises companies have come to Shanghai and set up operational offices in the city. For example, Star Cruises established its wholly-owned travel agency in Shanghai in 2004.

According to local media, in 2007, Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal welcomed a total of 100,000 outbound and inbound tourists, and the number of tourists is expected to increase to 150,000 in 2008. From February through October 2009, there will be 32 routes through Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal with more than 50 large deluxe cruises visiting Shanghai. The number of outbound and inbound tourists through Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal is estimated to be 200,000 in 2009.
