Hotel Rates In Chinese Business Cities Decrease For Holiday

The rates of medium- and high-level hotels in major business cities in China have decreased on average by 5% to 10% for the National Holiday period.

According to data from Ctrip.com, due to sharp decrease in the number of business travelers during the long holiday, rates of hotels the medium- and high-level in major business cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, decreased by 5% to 10% compared to September 2008. The average booking rate for five-star hotels in Beijing and Shanghai was about CNY1,400, while that for four-star hotels was about CNY700, and that for the three-star hotels was around CNY450.

Meanwhile, rates of hotels in Guangzhou, Nanjing and Chengdu remained relatively stable. Of these, the average booking rate for five-star hotels was between CNY800 and CNY900, while that for four-star hotels was about CNY500, and that for three-star hotels was CNY250 to CNY300.

Rates of hotels in some domestic tour cities have increased, in particular, from September 29 through to October 3, 2008, rates for some high-level hotel in Hangzhou and Xiamen went up by over 40%.
