Six Hong Kong Airlines Approved To Decrease Surcharges

The Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department has announced that six Hong Kong airlines including Cathay Pacific Airways have approval to reduce their surcharges on passenger routes in the period from October 1 through November 30, 2008.

Cathay Pacific Airways will reduce the surcharges on short routes from the original HKD231 to HKD196, a decrease of 15%. For its long-distance routes, the surcharges will be lowered by 10% from the original HKD924 to HKD832.

The Civil Aviation Department said that the new adjustment of surcharges has achieved a balance between ensuring the interests of passengers and reducing the burden on airlines and the department will continue to investigate and adjust the surcharges at specific times.
