Shaanxi Signs Agreement With China Eastern On International Routes

The Shaanxi provincial government has signed an agreement with China Eastern Air Holding Company in Xi'an to jointly promote in the Xi'an's international transportation business sector.

According to the agreement, China Eastern will add three new international routes from Xi'an, including the Xi'an-Kunming-Singapore route, the Xi'an-Qingdao-Seoul route, and the Xi'an-Shanghai-Los Angeles route.

In addition to policy support, the Shaanxi government will also give financial subsidies to promote international flights to and from Xi'an as well as on-bound flights via Xi'an. To ensure the normal operation of international routes, Shaanxi province and the Xi'an Municipal Tourism Bureau will enhance the promotion of outbound tour products related on China Eastern's current and new international flight destinations, and will cooperate with China Eastern to promote routes with the aim of building Xi'an's brand as a hub for international routes.

In recent years, China Eastern has increased the number of aircraft based in Xi'an to 27, and this is expected increase to 29 by next year, accounting for a 35% share of Xi'an's aviation market.
