Domestic Routes Decrease Surcharges From December 25 In China

Due to recent fluctuations in prices of energy used for domestic civil aviation transportation, China's National Development and Reform Commission and the Civil Aviation Administration of China have issued a notice that says surcharges for domestic routes are allowed to be decreased from December 25, 2008.

From December 25, the surcharges can go down from the original CNY150 to CNY40 for domestic routes of over 800 kilometers; that for shorter domestic routes of less than 800 kilometers decrease from the original CNY80 to CNY20.

The notice also requires that each level of price management department should strengthen the supervision and inspection of the implementation of aviation transportation prices, and promptly investigate and dealt with all kinds of price violations in accordance with the law to effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
