Carlson Inks Agreement For Radisson Plaza In Shenyang

Carlson Hotels Worldwide has signed a management agreement with Chinese real estate developer Shenyang New Times Hotels Company for a new Radisson Plaza hotel in China's fifth largest city.

Scheduled to open in 2012, Radisson Plaza Hotel Shenyang Hunnan is the latest addition to Carlson's rapidly expanding portfolio of properties under development in China. The group recently also signed an agreement to manage the Radisson Plaza Hotel Sanya Lu Hui Tou.

Radisson Plaza is the premium extension of Radisson Hotels & Resorts the upscale, full-service brand of Carlson Hotels Worldwide.

Jean-Marc Busato, managing director for Asia Pacific at Carlson Hotels, commented that Shenyang is the economic, cultural and commercial center of Northeast China and an important industrial base. It has also recorded strong annual growth in international tourist arrivals over the last few years. He added that this latest project development will help Carlson set a strong foothold into Northeast China and is part of their overall plan to expand the Radisson Plaza brand in China.

The new 320-room hotel will be located in Shenyang's Central Business District area and close to the Shenyang International Exhibition Center.

Carlson currently has six properties under development in China including the Radisson Plaza Hotel Tianjin which will open by mid-2009 this year. Overall, the group has over 12,000 rooms under development in Asia Pacific and plans to double its regional portfolio over the next four years, between 2008 and 2012, with a focus on key markets such as China, India, Thailand, and the South Pacific.
