Direct Flight Launched From Yekaterinburg To Beijing

Russian carrier Ural Airlines has launched a new direct flight from Yekaterinburg to Beijing.

Currently there is only one flight on this route each week; however it is reported that Ural Airlines is planning to increase this to two flights a week by the end of 2009. Air China also intends to launch a route from Beijing to Yekaterinburg within this year.

Right before this route was opened, people in the Ural area needed to go to Moscow for direct flights to Beijing, or to take a flight from Yekaterinburg to Tianjin and then transfer to Beijing.

Ural Airlines, the seventh largest airline, in Russia is based in Yekaterinburg, which is the capital of Sverdlovsk region and also Russia's third largest city.
