To boost the development of Chongqing's tourism industry, the Chongqing Traffic and Tourism Investment Group has set up the Chongqing Liangjiang Holiday Hotel Management Company.
This will be the largest state-owned hotel management company in southwestern China and is aimed to be the top hotel management brand in western China and a top-ranking hotel management body in China within five years.
Zhang Dongming, the general manager of Chongqing Liangjiang Holiday Hotel Management Company, said that Liangjiang Holiday is committed to providing professional hotel management services and to creating an elite team that can stand for the management level of domestic-invested tourist hotels. Currently Liangjiang Holiday has 13 five-star hotel members.
In 2007 Chongqing government put forward the idea of building Chongqing into a "world tourism destination". To reach the goal, the city has started a Sun Program of building 20 five-star cruisers, 30 five-star tourist hotels and 40 boutique scenic spots. Chongqing Traffic and Tourism Investment Group will play a key role in this program by constructing over 20 star-rated hotels.
In 2009 the group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangdong (Int'l) Hotel Management Holdings Limited under which Guangdong Hotel will train hotel management personnel for the group. In addition, the group has a strategic cooperation agreement with well-known higher education institutions and tourism vocational schools in China to create a training base for fostering high-level management personnel.
