InterContinental Shanghai Expo Opens Its Doors

The 400-room InterContinental Shanghai Expo, which is located adjacent to the 2010 World Expo site, recently had its grand opening.

At the opening ceremony Michel Koopman, the general manager of InterContinental Shanghai Expo commented that since the hotel is only one step away from the World Expo site, it was designed and built with the Expo 'Better City, Better Life' theme. He added that meeting and dining concepts in the hotel have an indoor and outdoor experience.

Guest rooms range from 42 square meters upwards and are equipped with the latest technology including IP phones, iPod docking stations and an LCD TV in the bathroom.

Conference and meeting facilities include an 800-square-meter grand ballroom, a 250-square-meter terrace ballroom and nine function rooms with river views and equipped with state of the art technology.

The 'Better City, Better Life' theme, promoting better well-being and quality of living is reflected on the lifestyle floor with gym, spa, pool and yoga studio. Guests easily connect with the outdoors, with the pool terrace, jogging track, expansive gardens and proximity to the river promenade. The hotel garden houses nine free-standing 1930s historical villas.

InterContinental Shanghai Expo, is close to the city's shopping and entertainment areas, being only eight minutes away from the Lujiazui district in Pudong, and it has easy underground tunnel and bridge access to Puxi.
