MOU Opens Canada For Chinese Tour Groups

At a meeting in Ottawa, Canada, the director of China National Tourism Administration, Shao Qiwei, and Canada's international trade minister, Peter Van Loan, signed a memorandum of understanding enabling Chinese tour groups to visit Canada.

Shao commented that the signing of the MOU is a milestone for tourism cooperation between China and Canada. CNTA will work with Canadian tourism departments to increase cooperation in trade, culture and education, driven by tourism exchanges between the two countries.

China decided to grant Approved Destination Status to Canada during the prime minister of Canada Stephen Harper's visit to China in December 2009.

After the signing of the MOU, Banff Lake Louise Tourism launched the Chinese website china.banfflakelouise.com for offering destination information to Chinese tourists. Following the website, there will be a series of online marketing measures including digital marketing, influence marketing, and social media to enhance the destination brand awareness of Banff.
