China Eastern Reports Highest-ever Passenger Load Factor

China Eastern Airlines, the nation's third largest airline, recently said that its passenger load factor reached 80.1% in June 2010 — the highest level ever. And its cargo load factor was 59.7%.

In the first six months of 2010, China Eastern's passenger load factor reached 75.8% — an increase of 5% from a year earlier.

The Shanghai-based carrier said the number of passengers in June 2010 increased by 5.4% from the previous month to 5.45 million. This was due to robust demand brought-about by the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

China Eastern also announced its first-half operating revenue jumped by 46.5% year on year to CNY35.4 billion, and its market share in Shanghai increased to 46.3%.
